  • Pop a lock and police man

After church on Sunday Nate and I both threw a kid in a carseat.  Nate threw the keys into the driver's seat.  He slammed Shepherd's door closed and realized that the doors were locked so he yells to me (as I'm slamming Owen's door) "don't close that door!!"  uhhhh...too late.

So yes, we locked our kids in the car.  They were both strapped in their seats and couldn't reach to unlock the doors.  My keys were at home.  So I immediately called a couple people who I knew were in church to see if we could borrow their car to run home and get our spare keys.  Uh...whoops, problem--we couldn't get in our house without the garage door opener (locked in the car) or the house key (also locked in the car).

A lady stopped by and asked if we were locked out.  Humbly we replied yes.  She had pop a lock's number in her phone...and they unlock you FREE if kids are stuck inside.  I was selfishly glad about that since I knew it would probably cost around $50 or so.  A few minutes later a cop showed up.  I guess they have to call the cops if kids are involved?!?  I don't really know.  Maybe they wanted to make sure we weren't abusing our kids.  Anyway, mr. pop shows up and unlocks the door in like 3 seconds.  It was amazing.  The kids remained calm the whole time and thought it was a game or something.  Their mom was not so calm.

In 8 years of marriage this was our first time to have to call a locksmith.  Hopefully we keep it 1 time every 8 years or so.

We had an Easter party at our house today...complete with an egg hunt, Resurection eggs and lots of food.  It was really fun.  I'll post pictures one of these days.

Have I mentioned I'm really really tired???

Oh my stars.  I got tense just reading that.  It reminded me of that time that Shepherd got stuck in the elevator at the hospital.  Augghhh!!!!  When are you gonna crossover?

WOW!  how scary...glad you were around other people who could help, and not stranded at some creepy convenient store by yourself...ugh.  AND so glad it was free!  hope you're tiredness will decrease within the next couple of weeks.  of course, i'm more tired with this one in general, but i have a feeling jack is the culprit...as will shep and owen :)

oh my goodness!  I would have been a complete mess.  I am so glad Nate was there too, and that they came so quickly.  I totally understand being so tired - I feel completely exhausted!  Hopefully you will have more energy again soon.  Have a great day.

I keep forgetting your pregnant.. How could I? I have been a busy person! lol  That story is funny because I could see the kids being happy but you freaking out.. cause everytime I get out of my vehicle If I peek in on Blaine, he always laughs like it is really funny!  It is good they were buckled in though could you imagine what might have happened with a toddler and baby loose in a locked vehicle with keys... I'm glad it didn't cost you anything.. how scary that the cops pulled up! but atleast the kids were safe!! I hope you get some rest and gain some extra energy.. when is your next dr appt.? I'm sorry I forgot..

I am still tired, but I do think I am less exhausted now than when I was pregnant just 4 weeks ago.  I wish Jimmy and I could say we have only called the lock smith once every 8 years.  We're on more of a yearly plan I think.

This happened to me at Wal mart on a warm (thankfully not hot) day with Bowden and Evynn.  The fire dept came and could not get the door opened for a little while... i was ready to break the window in...  Both children were sweaty but safe when we finally got them out!
